Steel plates are the most common cause of clutch judder, because a warped plate cannot release cleanly. These plates are blanked from 65Mn spring steel, quench-and-tempered to HRC 42–46 and shot-peened to relieve surface stress, then individually checked for flatness within 0.05 mm. Replace them with every friction disc change for the smoothest result.
